Over this Christmas Season (2025) I spent time in the Chicago, Illinois area, and came down with norovirus. This is a brutal infection, and it sent me down the path to discover a connection between Jesus' teachings a potential protectant against humans' vulnerability to norovirus.
Jesus spoke multiple times about grapes and their relevace to the human condition. Upon looking into the mechanics of grape seed extract (the oily mixture that is pressed from the seeds within grapes) I was led to discover evidence that grape seed extract helps to "cluster" viruses like the norovirus, such that it makes it difficult for the virus infect a host. What a helpful fruit, the grape, and one that Jesus mentioned in parables.
In time, it is probabilistic that humanity will encouter a highly infectious, highly lethal virus, and remembering the teachings of Jesus (specifically regarding the power of the Vine) may just be the solution that humanity will benefit from remembering.
